i premiered this poem at the Museum of Contemporary Art in San Diego with The AJA Project for POWER SHIFT, their inaugural celebration and fundraiser.
i'm honored to be part of the legacy of The AJA Project and Back Alley Poetry Club which seeks to uplift marginalized voices in the City Heights community. The work AJA does gives people incredible opportunities. i'm grateful they saw potential in me and have invited me to add my work to Memoria Terra and POWER SHIFT.
Memoria Terra is a project where myself and other poets created work that reflect City Heights. Those poems are now being permanently added to the sidewalk of a park in City Heights where people will be able to read and interact with the words of others in their community. i can't wait to show you the finished work once it's ready!
